Port Stephens Attractions

Port Stephens is the perfect holiday destination. An easy two and a half hour drive north of Sydney and with an area of approximately 119 square kilometres (45.9 sq mi) Port Stephens is larger than Sydney Harbour. Its crystal clear waters and 26 sandy sun-bleached beaches are a natural draw card for both local and international visitors alike. Dive, snorkel or paddle in the Port Stephens – Great Lakes Marine Park or for the more adventurous surf at Birubi, One Mile or Box Beaches. Sail, kite board or kayak in the Port’s protected waters or quad bike or camel ride the dunes of Stockton Bight. The area abounds with outdoor activities.

The marina at Nelson Bay is home to the game fishing fleet and the dolphin and whale watching cruise boats. It’s a hive of activity and a focus for food, fun and family entertainment.

Amongst all this natural beauty the area is studded with hidden gems like the Inner Lighthouse and Tea Rooms where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Tomaree and Yaccaba Headlands or Little Beach Boat House nestled in the protected cove of Little Beach. For those with a gourmet flare try Zenith at Shoal Bay or 2317 at Soldiers Point to delight your senses.

You can walk the Coastal Track from Barry Park to Big Rocky or explore the historical WWII gun emplacements in Tomaree National Park and a stroll along Shoal Bay Beach is an absolute delight. In fact there’s so much to see and do – you simply won’t have time to do it all!
